Emotional dysregulation is a key driver for challenging incidents, poorer relationships, worse focus and decreased wellbeing.
The strongest predictor of violence is antisocial behaviour.
Emotional dysregulation — difficulty managing stress, impulses, and strong feelings — is closely linked to antisocial behaviour, poor decision making, conflict with others and worse wellbeing outcomes.

How In-Person, Talk-Based Interventions are Restricted
Traditional approaches to behavioural management face barriers as they rely heavily on staff time and cannot scale.
Low Reach
Building a trust-based relationship with a facilitator is needed for talk intervention to be successful. This is more difficult in individuals with antisocial tendencies.
Low Trust
Inaccessible
For those with learning or language difficulties, verbal programmes can often be difficult to benefit from.
Manana Interactive’s stress management tool trains meditative, deep breathing while undertaking safe, gamified challenges. Data from a person’s wearable creates a positive, digital feedback loop, rewarding them for staying calm and focused when challenged.
A Data-Driven Training Game to Help Build Self-Calming Skills
Manana Interactive is conducting pilots both in prisons and in schools with students struggling with impulsivity and dysregulation.
“...I noticed that when the game was getting harder I was holding my breath and my muscles were tensing, so I relaxed them and it got easier again. After that I knew what to do when I got tense.”

A safe training game to practice emotional control
Manana Interactive has developed a digital training game, powered by a wearable heart sensor, that teaches students to regulate their emotions in real time. Emotion regulation interventions have been shown to reduce aggression, improve peer relationships, improve decision-making and build resilience.
Calming down is part of this safe and engaging game, where students learn to do mindful breathing while having fun — reducing the risk of incidents and strengthening long-term resilience. For teachers and schools, this means fewer classroom disruptions, better attendance, and calmer learning environments where every student has the chance to thrive.
